OOPS! MYSTERIOUS SOUNDS: BOOK 2.

Special voice number 1

[Phodduang]

I mumbled softly as Jin walked back and flopped down next to me. We were snuggled together on the bed in the late afternoon, after our last exam. Okay, so I slept from 6 PM yesterday until almost noon today. After Jin woke me up to eat, I immediately went back to sleep.

"Did you wake up startled by the sound of my phone ringing?" Jin asked softly, his hand still stroking my back. I nodded slightly and yawned again.

"a little"

"Are you feeling less tired now?"

I shook my head quickly.

"Even if I slept for another day, I don't know if I'd feel less tired."

"Of course. I've been playing games without sleeping for two whole days straight. It's a good thing I still have the energy to take the exam."

He complained to me because during the exam period, me and those guys, like he said, studied day and night. Because this subject was really important.

Our grades were combined with those from other faculties, so we took it quite seriously and studied day and night.

"Oh," I nuzzled my nose against his arm, "Who called just now?" I jumped because Jin's phone had just rang.

"That's Nick."

I nodded. I've been hearing that name a lot lately from Jin. Nick is a secretary his father, the wealthy businessman, sent to help out because Jin is busy with both his studies and Ronnalak's work, which is obviously making him quite overwhelmed. So, the tycoon sent his secretary to help manage Ronnalak's schedule. It wouldn't be surprising if Jin were in regular contact with Nick.

"Is something wrong?"

"He called to ask about the exam."

Huh? I furrowed my brows slightly.

"Oh"

"Why are you making that face?"

Jin reached out and playfully stroked my cheek.

"I'm just surprised Nick seems to care so much about you."

Jin narrowed his eyes at me and chuckled softly.

"I complained to him about my studies. Nick has an engineering degree, so we just talked a little. Nothing serious."

"I haven't said anything yet."

I shrugged, pretending not to know anything.

"Do you want to go to bed?"

"No, the more I sleep, the worse my headache gets."

"Okay, then get up and take a shower. It'll be evening soon. Go down and help Beam and the others make sukiyaki."

"Mmm."

I nodded because Jin had said the same thing, that we'd have sukiyaki after the exams were over. I'd invited Dang and the others, too, but they all declined because none of them had recovered yet. After that, I showered and followed Jin downstairs. Then Tos and Art arrived. Tos sniffed around, leaned closer to Jin, and made a gesture like he was going to tease him. So I grabbed the bag of vegetables and walked past them to wash them.

"The scent of the same bath soap."

"Because he and I just took a shower."

"Shower together?"

"obtrusive"

I heard Jin yelling at his friend while I was busy washing vegetables, pretending not to notice. At that moment, I heard Jin's phone ring again.

"Yes, Mr Nick."

Again?

Someone in that area moved closer and gently tapped me on the shoulder. I looked up and saw Jin turn to answer a phone call outside. I watched his broad back until he disappeared from sight, then let out a deep sigh. Beam, who was there...

"What's wrong?"

"nothing"

I shook my head quickly and pretended to be interested in washing the vegetables, even though my mind was racing with questions about what business Jin had with the secretary, or if there was a problem at the company. I've noticed Jin seems stressed lately, but he hasn't talked to me about it. Since he won't talk, I don't want to pry or make him feel worse. But I can't help but worry about it.

While I was washing the vegetables, I kept craning my neck to look for Jin. In just a moment, Jin walked briskly over and stood in front of me.

"What's wrong?"

"I have some documents I need to sign at the company."

"Now?"

"I'll be right back."

"Should I come with you?" I asked.

"It's alright. You wait here. I'll be back in less than an hour."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah, it's more convenient for me to ride my motorcycle," I nodded. Jin mostly prefers riding his motorcycle because it's more agile. As for the Audi, it belongs to his wealthy father. It was sent to Jin, but it's still parked perfectly in the same place because it's not used very often.

"Drive carefully."

I walked him to the front of the house.

"yes"

I moved to help him put on his helmet. He took my hand, gave it a light kiss, and smiled at me.

"Why is Phu so lucky?"

"what"

I made a face at it.

"Because I have a cute boyfriend like you."

"That's suspiciously cheesy," I narrowed my eyes at him, pretending to catch him in a lie.

"Sneaking off to see your mistress, are you? Confess!" I playfully punched his shoulder.

"Don't let them find out."

Jin's face tensed before he looked directly at me, his fingertips gently smoothing my hair.

"Jin"

"You can be suspicious of me about anything you want. But please don't suspect that I have other people."

"..."

"It wasn't easy winning you over, or for us to become a couple. Don't doubt the love I have for you."

"Excuse me", I spoke softly.

"I accept your apology as..."

Huh? The silence at the end of the sentence made me look up at Jin, who was looking at me. His gaze was so intense that I felt awkward.

"this evening"

What kind of apology do you want? I quickly covered its mouth with my hand, afraid it would speak further. Just from its eyes, I could tell what it was going to say. I didn't want to hear it with my own ears.

"Jin"

Jin chuckled softly before leaning in to whisper something in my ear. His words made my face flush instantly.

"I accept your apology... as a condom test tonight."

Damn it!

Jin said he'd only be gone for an hour. But it's almost 7 PM, and he still hasn't shown up, even though he left at 5 PM. I sighed heavily, sitting and watching the smoke rising from the sukiyaki pot.

Lost in thought, surrounded by Jin's friends who were playing guitar and singing, I worried about my boyfriend. But when I tried calling, his phone was off; there was no answer.

"Phodduang," Beam nudged my shoulder as he slid a plate of snacks in front of me. "Want some?" I nodded slightly and forced a smile at my little friend. "Phodduang."

"that"

"Did you have a problem with Jinri?" Beam asked, probably because he noticed the troubled expression on my face.

"If you're not comfortable telling me, you don't have to. I'm just worried."

"Maybe I'm just overthinking things, Beam."

"Uh-huh"

Beam listened attentively to me.

"But I can't help feeling a little hurt. Jin seems stressed about something; he looks so busy that I don't dare ask, yet he's practically constantly talking to Nick."

"Is that the secretary his father sent?"

"Mmm."

"It's probably nothing," Beam smiled reassuringly. "I heard he graduated with an engineering degree; he's an upperclassman from his faculty, so it's natural they're close. Besides, .. isn't..."

"That's definitely Jin's type."

Beam squeezed my hand to encourage me.

At that moment, I heard Jin's motorcycle engine pull into the driveway, and shortly after, Jin walked in with someone... Mr Nick, dressed in a shirt...He wore a polo shirt and slacks, his tall, slender frame and fair complexion quite attractive when he smiled. I saw him standing next to his new secretary and was speechless.

"Sorry, I'm late; there was traffic."

Jin spoke up first, gesturing with his mouth towards the person next to him.

"Hey guys, this is Nick, my assistant. I invited him to eat with us."

"Please come in."

My friends parted to make room for me to sit down, while I silently stared at the hot pot. Suddenly, I felt a lump in my throat and couldn't swallow my food.

"Phod"

I glanced at the owner of the hand resting on my shoulder and gave a weary smile.

"Sorry, I'm late. I brought you your favourite food."

"Mmm."

I glanced at the famous dessert shop that I  really like.

"Are you alright? Are you feeling unwell?"

"I'm going to the restroom,"

"Wait a minute."

I didn't wait to hear what he had to say, but quickly got up and walked towards the bathroom. I hated this feeling so much. Everything in my head was a chaotic mess. I stared at my face in the mirror and let out a deep sigh before quickly splashing water onto calm myself down.

I'm acting stupid and feeling really bad about Jin bringing him back after he'd been gone for hours. So many negative feelings are welling up that I don't even want to see my loved one's face and hear no explanation from them. If I had stayed sitting there just now, I'm afraid I would have ruined the atmosphere for everyone else.

I raised one hand to wipe away the droplets of water clinging to my face after a while, before taking a deep breath to face my unusual situation. But as I opened the bathroom door, I saw Jin already leaning against the wall, waiting.

"Excuse me, It spoke first.

"I don't want to listen yet."

"What's wrong with you? Can you tell me?" Jin came closer and hugged me tightly. One hand gently stroked my back, causing me to instinctively bury my face in the crook of his neck.

"You're making me feel bad, Jin."

"Excuse me."

"They're not answering the phone."

"My phone battery is dead."

I punched it in the back once, and I heard it groan softly.

"I haven't given you a chance to redeem yourself yet."

"Okay, okay. So, if there's anything else that's not okay, just tell me. I'll listen to everything," Jin said softly.

"You were gone for so many hours. Do you know how worried I was?"

"And you came back with Nick."

"....”

"You're such a jerk. Why don't you say what's on your mind? You talk to your secretary about everything. I'm not okay with what you're doing at all. Really, really not okay."

"Anything else?" It was asked in a gentle tone.

"Yes," I glared at him. "You told me not to doubt your love for me, but your behaviour makes me wonder." I poured everything out, exhausted from speaking so emotionally. He gently patted my back, trying to calm himself down.

"Would you like some water?"

"That's not funny, Jin."

"I'm serious," Jin asked in an earnest tone.

"Look, when you're angry, you don't even realise how red your face gets, and you sweat this much." He pulled out a handkerchief and wiped the sweat from my face.

"Let's talk outside. It's too hot in here," Jin nudged me to walk. "Okay?" I pursed my lips tightly.

"Listen to me, please."

I followed its lead to the backyard and slumped down on a bench. Jin kept stroking my back, his face showing genuine worry and concern.

"Are you calm now?" Jin asked softly. "Are you ready to listen to my explanation?"

I nodded slightly. "First, I didn't answer your call because my phone battery was completely dead." He pulled out his completely dead phone as proof and held it up in front of me.

"I'm late because of a slight work issue," he explained calmly. "One of the shareholders committed fraud. It caused Ronnalak's shares to fall. The situation with the company hasn't been doing well lately, that's why I've been talking to Nick a bit."

"So, are you okay?"

"I'm okay. I just came to help. Ronnalak isn't mine anyway, so why should I be bothered?" Jin shrugged, looking very indifferent. It was clear he didn't really care very much, in line with tradition.

"And what about Nick?" I mumbled something under my breath.

"Why"

"It's you and him."

"Are you jealous of me?" Jin asked with a smile. His smile made me want to poke his eyes out.

"I asked you first."

"Admit that you're jealous of me, then I'll drop you."

"That Jin"

"Yes"

"Uh, what?"

"Yes, I'm jealous."

I immediately made a sour face after finishing the drop.

"That's all."

I punched him in the chest, and Jin grabbed the hand that had assaulted me and kissed it gently.

"There's nothing going on between Nick and me. You can rest assured. He doesn't like me, and more importantly, I don't have any feelings for him."

"How can you be sure he doesn't have feelings for you?"

"Because he already has a girlfriend."

"Huh?" I immediately looked bewildered. "Are you serious?"

"That's true."

Jin didn't answer. The one who did answer was behind us. I spun around at the sound and gave a wry smile when I saw Nick standing behind us with a wide grin.

"Uh..."

"You can rest assured, Mr Phodduang. I really do have a girlfriend." Nick chuckled softly, his face showing amusement at my awkwardness.

"Heh"

"I apologise for eavesdropping, but I didn't mean to. I just wanted to let you know, Jin, that my girlfriend is waiting for me outside. I'll have to go now."

"Yes, Mr Nick."

I didn't know what to do, so I followed Jin's lead to take Nick to his house, where a Japanese car was already waiting. When the person inside opened the door, I was even more surprised. I was shocked when I saw the driver's face clearly, because it was one of the bodyguards who had been looking after me for a while when I was being followed by P' Itthi.

The bodyguard gave me a small smile and a brief greeting to Jin before Nick got into the car and drove away.

"Is that the bodyguard and Mr Nick?"

"They've been together for a long time."

Jin chuckled softly at my stunned expression, then gently shook my head.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"That's their private matter."

I pouted, feeling incredibly embarrassed for thinking that he and Nick were having an affair. It was so mortifying. I glared at him before walking away, but then I thought about what he grabbed...Keep my arm for now.

"Wait a minute"

"What else?"

"Where's my apology?"

"I'm sorry for being stupid." I made a pleading sound before giving it a sweet, ingratiating smile.

"I'm sorry too. Sorry for making you worry," Jin said with a smile, before continuing, "But as for your apology, I accept it as..."

"Pervert"

My face flushed as I retorted, while he chuckled softly and leaned in to give me a light kiss on the cheek.

"Let's go eat sukiyaki first."

"You're going to drop me off at my condo after you're done, right?"

"Ask again."

"I'm still tired, Jin."

"Why be tired? I'm just lying down."

"Liar," I pouted at him. "Swear to me that you're just going to hold my hand while we sleep tonight?" He shut his mouth.

"That Jin"

"No, I'll die for nothing." It said with a smile.

"You bastard."

"Give it to me."

"I bought two boxes."

"You're evil."

"Or should I not wear one?"

This time, it was my turn to keep quiet amidst Jin's laughter.

"Then I won't wear it."

I punched him hard in the shoulder before running into the house, my face burning with embarrassment.
