FUTTARA DOSHABURI
If It Rains, You’ll Be Soaked Through part 2
They headed back to the shopping arcade and bought exactly the kind of silver metal basin Sei had requested—the sort that looked as though it might drop onto someone’s head in a comedy sketch.
When they emerged from beneath the arcade roof, Hagiwara suddenly caught the scent of water.
The vicious heat from earlier had faded, replaced by damp air that clung heavily to their clothes and hair.
“Is it just me, or…?”
Before Hagiwara could finish, Sei pointed towards the western sky.
“Over there.”
Grey clouds were spreading towards them like paint bleeding through damp paper. Soft and swollen with moisture, they advanced steadily across the sky.
At this rate, they would cover the sun very soon.
“A bit early for an evening shower, isn’t it?”
“We should run home.”
But almost as soon as they started running, Sei stopped.
“Nakarai-san?”
“It’s fine.”
“Eh?”
“There’s no point. We won’t make it. It’ll catch us.”
Sei looked up towards the rain clouds covering the sky. If anything, his eyes seemed almost expectant.
There was something completely unguarded in them, like a wild animal waiting eagerly for the blessing of a sudden downpour, and Hagiwara felt as though his heart had been swallowed whole.
The presence of water in the air grew stronger. The first drop struck the asphalt, leaving a dark mark.
After that, the rain came down as though someone had overturned an enormous bucket.
Droplets bounced from the ground so violently that a mist seemed to rise around their feet.
“Oh, right.”
Sei turned the metal basin upside down and held it over their heads.
“We’ve already found a use for it.”
“Huh?”
“Come on, come on.”
Under their crude little roof, the rain was deafening as it hammered against the metal. It rattled and clattered like BB pellets bouncing around above them.
“It’s so bloody loud!”
Even that shout was swallowed almost immediately by the noise. Then the two of them started laughing like idiots.
Their ears were practically ringing, but neither of them cared.
“I’ll hold it.”
Hagiwara's hand brushed Sei’s as he reached for the rim of the basin.
Ah. He’s this close.
The moment Hagiwara became conscious of it, he kissed him without the slightest preparation or hesitation.
Fortunately, there was no one around.
Although even if there had been, he probably would have kissed him anyway.
“…I like you.”
He confessed with the same lips that had just stolen Sei’s kiss.
Sei stared at him blankly.
“I can’t hear you.”
“Eh? Ah…”
He had to say it again?
Having to repeat himself suddenly made it incredibly embarrassing.
But when Sei kept staring straight at him, Hagiwara could feel his face growing hot.
“Er…”
Sei had supposedly been listening intently, yet as Hagiwara hesitated over the words, the corners of his mouth gradually began to twitch.
Hagiwara frowned.
“Hm?”
Sei suddenly made an oh shit face and covered his mouth with his hand.
“…You heard me, didn’t you?!”
“I didn’t. I just worked it out from the way your mouth moved.”
“Oh, come on…”
Without warning, Sei let his head fall against Higawara’s shoulder. Even through the fabric, his forehead felt hot.
“I thought maybe you didn’t feel that way about me anymore.”
And so did the breath that escaped him along with the words.
“Eh?”
“I thought… once we’d had some time apart to cool off, maybe you’d decide you didn’t want me anymore after all—”
“Of course not.”
God, this basin was frustrating. Hagiwara wanted to hold him, but he couldn’t.
Part of him felt guilty for having made Sei anxious, but another part was strangely happy to discover that they had both been carrying the same fear.
The passing shower quickly thinned. Puddles here and there and droplets clinging to the trees in people’s gardens reflected the sunlight, turning everything bright and dazzling, almost like a fresh morning scene.
It was slightly cooler than before. Perhaps the rain had washed away the last of summer’s heat.
Summer was ending.
From now on, with every spell of rain the temperature would drop. Autumn would come, followed by winter.
Hagiwara wouldn’t forget Kaori. And Sei wouldn’t forget Fujisawa Kazuaki.
That was all right. Whatever the season, whatever kind of rain fell, Hagiwara wanted to be beside this person. That was what he thought.
They rolled the watermelon into the metal basin filled with ice water, then threw every last piece of their soaked clothing into the dryer.
That was where Hagiwara finally reached the limit of his self-control.
On the bed, he kissed Sei again and again.
“Mm…”
He stretched his tongue until the base of it began to ache, licking thoroughly around Sei’s mouth and playing with the tongue that tangled teasingly with his own.
Even the slightest change in angle or the timing of a breath brought a fresh spark of excitement behind his closed eyelids.
Like a child endlessly turning a kaleidoscope, Hagiwara lost himself in Sei’s lips.
As their body temperatures rose, their desire below the waist gradually began demanding more attention.
Hagiwara traced the lines of Sei’s body with his lips and tongue. His nipples were already pointed and flushed with invitation.
Hagiwara teased one with the firm tip of his tongue, gently circling the swollen, overly sensitive flesh around it before flicking and pressing the hardened centre.
At the same time, he made sure not to neglect the other one, teasing it properly with his fingers and nails.
“Ah!”
He closed his mouth firmly around the reddened peak, swollen and ripe-looking enough that it seemed it might split open and spill something sweet, and sucked hard enough to make a sound.
Immediately beneath him, Hagiwara could feel Sei’s heartbeat accelerating.
He scattered short, capricious kisses around Sei’s ribs and navel, half wishing he could somehow lick directly beneath his skin, to the muscles and bones themselves.
Each time, Sei’s body gave a small jerk.
“Mm…”
When Hagiwara wrapped his lips around half of Sei’s already aroused erection, Sei’s hips trembled so violently, and his moan rose so high that Hagiwara wondered if he had somehow hurt him.
“Ah—ah! No…”
Hagiwara mischievously worked his tongue around him, enjoying the pulse of the blood vessel pressing back against it.
When he tightened the soft lining of his mouth around him, Sei responded even more honestly, his excitement rising rapidly.
“Stop.”
At the strained plea, Sei reached down and caught Hagiwara by the hair.
“Why?”
“B-because if you do that, I’ll come straight away.”
“That’s fine.”
“No…”
“…Then shall we do it together?”
“Ah—”
Hagiwara pushed himself upwards, pressing his own erection against Sei’s.
Sei’s eyes widened for an instant.
“You…”
“Mm?”
“You’re filthy…”
His eyes were wet with arousal, trembling delicately beneath the shadows of his lashes like jelly.
Being glared at with eyes like that was hardly fair.
“You already knew that.”
Hagiwara whispered it while looking directly into those eyes that made him want to bite into them.
“…Do you know how many times I’ve got myself off thinking about you since then, Nakarai-san?”
“How the hell would I know?”
Sei’s gaze wavered with embarrassment, but there was no disgust in it.
He probably had no idea how reassuring that was for Hagiwara.
“I didn’t exactly keep count either, but… a lot.”
“What kind of answer is that?”
“I remember all the sexy stuff too, but the thing I remember most is the morning after. You smiled at me, remember? You looked so beautiful and cute. I remember thinking, God, I’m happy.”
“Normally, that isn’t the sort of memory people use when they’re getting themselves off.”
“No, it made me ridiculously horny.”
“You really don’t have to tell me any more than that.”
Sei covered Hagiwara's mouth with his palm, then turned his face away.
“And besides…”
“Hm?”
“If you say things like that, you’re raising the bar way too high…”
“Huh?”
“When this is over, what sort of face am I supposed to make?”
Hagiwara took Sei’s hand and kissed the back of it.
“Nakarai-san, you’re adorable.”
“I told you not to say that.”
“But don’t think about afterwards yet. We haven’t even started properly.”
He thrust his hips forward, rubbing their erections together.
“Ah…!”
Hagiwara moved back and forth in the rhythm of sex itself.
Neither of them could tell whose fluid was whose anymore. It smeared between them, tangling together with obscene wet sounds, and both of them hardened further at the slick sensation and the noise they were making.
“No—no, ah… ahh…”
Pressing the undersides of their erections firmly together, Hagiwara moved them hard against one another.
At once, clear fluid began spilling repeatedly from the slit at Sei’s tip, collecting in a shallow pool across his flat stomach.
Every time Hagiwara moved him, it spread over the smooth skin, sliding backwards and forwards and changing shape. The sight seemed to mirror Sei himself being tossed about by pleasure, and it excited Hagiwara unbearably.
The rounded opening, flushed darker with friction, seemed to be waiting desperately for the moment it could finally release everything inside.
“Mm… no… ah… ah…!”
They pressed their painfully hard erections together until Sei came. Hagiwara came at almost exactly the same time.
Because his hips had pushed forward at that instant, some of his semen reached Sei’s face.
“Mm…”
“Oh, shit—sorry. Did I get it in your eyes or your hair?”
“I’m fine.”
Hagiwara hurriedly wiped it away, but Sei brought his lips to Hagiwara's dirty fingers and closed his mouth around them.
Hagiwara felt the rough stroke of his tongue as Sei licked the semen away.
“Ah—hey, don’t…”
When Hagiwara tried to pull his hand back, Sei punished him with a gentle bite, his front teeth sinking softly into the skin.
A shiver ran down Hagiwara's spine. Sei sucked his fingers thoroughly, with an almost obsessive determination not to leave a single drop behind. Then, after one final strong pull of suction, he released them as casually as though he had simply grown bored.
“…Hurry up. Keep going.”
The request was barely louder than a breath.
Hagiwara swallowed embarrassingly hard. He spread Sei’s legs with enough enthusiasm that it was practically an attack, buried his face between them, and let his tongue explore the more private place beneath his erection.
“Ah—ahh! No—ah… mm…!”
It had been a while, so Sei’s body was initially quite tight there. But once Hagiwara had thoroughly lubricated him with saliva and managed to ease in the first finger, he could reach exactly where he wanted—inside him, to the place that could make Sei lose control.
When Hagiwara curled his fingertip against the inner wall, stroking it with small, persistent motions, Sei’s body immediately began shifting restlessly across the sheets.
“No—ah… ahh…!”
Hagiwara found Sei unbearably dear like this, his entire body trembling from a kind of pleasure completely different from the stimulation of his erection.
At that moment, it felt as though they were allowing one another completely into their existence.
Deeper than anything words could express.
Deeper than anything money or time could prove. He could actually feel it.
Whatever filthy things they wanted to do, they could do them together.
The heat-softened muscles inside Sei began contracting, seeking something fuller, something closer.
With his own desire swollen almost painfully, Hagiwara joined their bodies.
“Ah… ahh… that’s good…”
As Sei tightened around him and they came together as closely as physically possible, an overwhelming sense of fulfilment spread right through Hagiwara, all the way to the tips of his fingers.
“…Nakarai-san.”
“Mm?”
“About earlier… I’d quite like an answer to my confession.”
“Now?”
“You’ll find it harder to turn me down right now.”
“Idiot…”
Sei stretched both arms around Hagiwara's back and pulled him close.
“I like you.”
Then he pressed their foreheads together.
“Hagiwara.”
“Mm?”
“Even if you get tired of me, don’t get tired of my body.”
“…Shouldn’t that be the other way around?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s ridiculous. But I get it.”
“…Right back at you.”
They made love slowly and gently. Hagiwara stretched an arm out from the bed and pulled the curtain open just a little.
The sky beyond it was a blazing orange with sunset. The scattered patches still lingering there were probably the rain clouds from earlier. Lit by the evening sun, they looked like soft cocoons, while the streak of a contrail seemed as though melted pearls had been brushed across the sky.
“Come to think of it, I never actually completed my DIY mission in the end.”
“Took you long enough to notice.”
“But I’m hungry.”
“Want to go somewhere to eat?”
“But making a load of noise working on the place late at night would probably annoy the neighbours, wouldn’t it?”
“Probably.”
They looked at each other.
“…You were going home today, weren’t you?”
Sei asked with a deliberately suggestive tone.
“Didn’t you say you had an early start tomorrow?”
The look in his eyes made it obvious he had seen straight through Hagiwara's flimsy excuse long ago. Hagiwara had no choice but to surrender immediately.
“…Please let me stay the night.”
“Honestly. Fine.”
Sei laughed.
“You’d better help me finish that watermelon properly, though.”
Summer was already coming to an end, yet Hagiwara found himself remembering, for no particular reason, that sweet feeling of anticipation at the very beginning of the summer holidays.
