Dare You To Death: Solve the Mystery, See the Death.

Special episode 3

"Brother Jade, the food has arrived," a sweet voice called out to the station captain.

A small, cute young man walked in with a bag containing dozens of boxes of food that the station had ordered for lunch.

"The captain is in that room."

"Then I'd better go see Brother Jade."

"Hey, if you're going, just go with your body. As for the rice, leave it."

"Who's paying for this meal?"

"Go ask the captain for the money," the son of a newly opened rice shop nearby had been following Jade for nearly two weeks. Captain Saen had once eaten there with his subordinates. Just by seeing his face, he knew he was definitely his soulmate!

He walked upstairs out of habit. Every time someone ordered food, he would always come up to collect the money from Jade. The young man raised his hand to straighten his hair a bit, wanting to look good in the eyes of the station captain. But before he could knock on the door, he heard footsteps coming from behind.

When he turned to look, the twenty-year-old man was stunned. He had never seen this person here before moving here. His figure, face, and mannerisms were all good-looking, calm, and charming, making him hard to look away from. He thought the other person was not as tall or handsome as the one he was aiming for.

"Hello, who are you looking for?"

"I...come see Brother Jade."

"Brother Jade?" The door opened before anyone could resolve the issue.

"Khamin, oh P, what are you doing here?"

"I'm here to collect the money for the lunch boxes. The sergeants ordered ten boxes, and I'm bringing this one especially for you, Jade." Red water and a lunch box were handed to the person at the door. The young man's wide smile and shy expression made Khamin's face gradually stiffen. Jade looked up to meet the eyes of the person standing behind the young man from the rice shop, and he knew disaster was about to befall him.

"Thank you. But I'll pay for the items later. You don't have to bring them to me."

"How can that be? P' is flirting with me." The big hand that was handing money to the boy in front of him paused.

"Then I'll take my leave, Captain. When you're ready, go get the documents from me in my room."

“Min, wait a minute.”

After he finished speaking, Khamin walked away, not listening to any calls from behind him. He had been quite busy with cases and filing documents for the police department recently, so he had to travel back and forth. He didn't have much time at the station. He didn't think his boyfriend would have a child following him around like this, and that child wouldn't know.

Since Jade already had a boyfriend, he wondered why he hadn't revealed his relationship status.

Khamin walked back to the room, then placed the file on the table. He sat down in his usual chair and sighed. He and Jade had been together for many years. He understood that their relationship might have been neglected or boring at times, but there had never been a day that he had thought about having someone else or changing his mind to find someone else. His disappointment had made Khamin stare blankly at the ceiling until his phone rang, distracting him from the bad feelings that had arisen.

"Yes"

[Mr Khamin, you forgot the documents regarding budget disbursement here.]

"Ah, then I'll go back and get it."

[No problem. I brought it for you. It's downstairs.] Khamin frowned before standing up to go down to the other end of the line, where someone had arrived at the station uninvited. He hung up when he found a high-ranking young man from the police department standing and waving downstairs.

"You shouldn't have to go through the trouble of coming here."

“I saw you driving back and forth for several days, so I thought you must be tired. I brought it here myself. I also took the opportunity to check out this station.”

"It's just as you can see."

“It looks more organised than most places I’ve been,” Khunphon smiled at Khamin, his eyes sparkling. He had been seeing the man more frequently recently, as they were discussing budget allocation.

There was no denying that he had a strong affinity for Khamin. But unfortunately… “Would it be too much trouble if I asked Khamin to show me around the place?”

"Okay, I don't have any other business."

“Khamin,” a voice called from the second floor, causing the people standing and talking to look up. But what caught Khamin’s attention the most was the young man who had been clinging to the arm of his lover, who had come all the way down from the top floor to the bottom floor.

"This must be Captain Jade. Hello," Jade glanced at the newcomer from the corner of his eye before turning his attention back to the person in front of him.

"Khamin"

"Yes, Captain." The distant pronoun and the expressionless face, devoid of a smile, made Jade anxious. But trying to coax him now wouldn't be appropriate for their positions.

"Can we go talk for a bit?"

"I have business to discuss with Inspector Khunphon. Is your business urgent?"

"Urgent!" The two of them sparred amid their subordinates and the two new guests.

"Then let's talk in Mr Khamin's room," the general said amidst the commotion between the two.

"Then please. You can invite your kid along, Captain." After he finished speaking, Khamin walked back upstairs, followed by Khunphon, who followed closely behind. Jade had to use his tongue to push his cheeks to vent his irritation. The lecherous gaze the policeman gave Khamin really irritated him.

In the office of the highest-ranking official, four people sat, looking at each other. But the one who initiated the conversation was a young police officer who had just arrived a few minutes earlier.

“Mr Khamin, what time would be convenient for me to take you around the place?”

“Walk around and look at the place?” Jade said with an annoyed tone.

"You can go."

"Oh, so you're not going to talk to the captain first?"

"What do you want to talk to me about, Captain?" Khamin crossed his arms and looked at Jade before moving his gaze down to his lover's strong arm, which now had the hand of the kid from the rice shop clinging to it.

“Can we talk about this, Khamin?”

"How well do we have to talk?"

"Um, Brother Jade, Dad called already. I'll come see you later."

“Wait a minute, P.” Khamin pursed his lips when he saw his lover calling out to the young man. “Didn’t I tell you that I have a boyfriend?”

"Yes, but I still want to flirt with you. You're handsome." The boy puffed out his cheeks a little. He followed Jade like this because he liked his good looks and kindness.

He wanted to tease him like a mischievous kid who had just entered university. But he didn't think about becoming Jade's lover or intending to steal Jade for himself.

"This is Khamin, my boyfriend."

“Huh! Is this handsome guy your boyfriend?”

"Yes," Jade turned back to look at the person who was still staring at him with the same calm expression. "This is my girlfriend."

Jade emphasised their status, his sharp eyes glancing at the smiling general sitting beside him. He didn't know why he came or what he thought of Khamin, but no matter what, he had no right to do anything.

"Oh, your boyfriend is so cute. How can I fight him? It's no fun." Phung whined a little before walking out of the room, leaving only Khamin in a daze.

“Will I be able to go back?”

"I can't go back yet. I have an appointment with Mr Khamin to go sightseeing."

“Can’t you go take a look yourself?”

"I want to have Inspector Khamin walk with me," Khunphon teased, turning to smile at Khamin again. That alone made Jade almost lose his mind.

"Will you take it?"

"That's enough, Jade."

“Haha, Mr Jade’s reputation for being hot-tempered is true,” Khunphon laughed before standing up to his full height. “Then I won’t bother you, Mr Khamin. I’ll let you know once the budget is settled.”

"Thank you, Inspector Khunphon."

"You're welcome." After the general left, only the couple who hadn't yet reconciled were left in the room. Jade chose to lock the door so no one could interrupt their conversation again.

When he turned back, he saw that Khamin's gaze had softened. At least it didn't look as reproachful or harsh as it had at first. He walked up to Khamin at the table and knelt before him.

"Min, can you listen to Jade first?"

“Listen.”

“He just wanted to tease me. Jade told him from the very first day that he already had a girlfriend.”

“Teasing by being so physical like that, Jade, Min should see it as normal, right?”

The kneeling person leaned on Khamin's thigh. It wasn't wrong for Khamin to think too much, but he was the one who thought too little. He just thought that he had already told him his status, that he knew. After that, he didn't think much about it.

No matter how he touched or teased him, he just thought of it as playing. He didn't think about how Khamin would feel when others teased and touched his lover. Because if he saw that someone else was clinging to Khamin, he would probably be furious as well.

"Jade, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry, Min."

“It might seem silly, but I can be jealous,” Jade paused before looking up at his lover with affection.

Jade gently reached out to cup Khamin's face. He looked at Khamin with loving eyes. Even though they had been together for a long time, he had never loved Khamin any less. In fact, his love for him had grown stronger every day.

"Jade loves Min so much. There's never once been a time when Jade thought of cheating on him or having someone else. This time, Jade  was really being careless, not considering Min's feelings." Jade hugged his lover tightly to his chest. Although he was happy that Khamin was showing some jealousy, Khamin's discomfort and heartache weren't worth it. "Let's make up."

"Sorry for being so silly." Khamin raised his hand to hug him back, burying his face in the forest. Because the time apart had made him think too much, even though he actually knew what kind of person Jade was.

"I don't see anything stupid about it. Jade is ready to explain everything to Min." Jade pushed Khamin away slightly before narrowing his eyes. "But what about that police officer? Jade is jealous."

"Min already told me she has a boyfriend. He didn't think anything of it. We were just talking about work."

"Then go."

“Are you very jealous?”

"A lot"

"Min is also very jealous."

"So cute." Jade kissed his soft lips again and again until Khamin finally burst out laughing.

The reconciliation went smoothly and quickly. After talking it over, the two decided to go out for lunch together since they had nothing to eat.

"Brother, please take the order for table four."

"Yes, Dad. Oh, Brother Jade  remembers." P walked in and greeted him with his usual cheerful voice. But when he saw Khamin coming with him, the young man's demeanour changed. "Oh, the sergeant is here too?"

"Yes"

"Heh, sorry about what happened at noon. I was just joking with P'Jade because P'Jade is handsome and my type."

"It's okay. Jade and I talked about it."

"Brother Jade is a cheater. How can you have such a cute boyfriend?"

"I already told you that my boyfriend is cute."

"Brother Jade, you never stop telling me stories about Brother Khamin. He's so good and so cute. I wish I had a boyfriend like that, too."

"Ahem"

"I mean other people, hehe." Khamin chuckled softly when he saw that the boy in front of him probably didn't really think anything of his boyfriend.

"Jade said that he loves Min to death." Jade turned and raised an eyebrow at Khamin and grabbed his hand.

"I know, I know." Khamin pursed his lips slightly before gently shaking their clasped hands to get Jade's attention. "Jade."

“Where do you want to go tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow?”

“Where do you want to go?”

“It’s up to you, Min. Actually, we can just stay home during the holidays.”

“Did you forget this?”

"Forget?"

"Tomorrow is Jade's birthday." Jade frowned, then relaxed when he remembered that it was his birthday tomorrow.

“That’s right. I completely forgot.” It wasn’t just Khamin’s work that was hectic these days; he was just as busy. Every day, he had to go out to investigate, run, and catch criminals. So it wasn’t unusual for him to forget trivial matters like his own birthday.

“I’ll just stay home so Min can rest.”

"That's all right."

Even though his mouth said that, the corner of Khamin's mouth lifted into a smile when he thought of the surprise he had prepared for his lover. At the very least, this year's Jade birthday was a way to reconcile their misunderstanding. How could he have an ordinary birthday?
