Dare You To Death: Solve the Mystery, See the Death.

Investigation Part 30

Jade drove towards the destination Yuki had sent him, along with information about the area. He had a rough idea that the area was an animal farm far from the city, but it was also beautiful, with fresh air and quiet. Therefore, there were many houses of people who didn't like chaos, as well as many vacation homes.

He was worried about both Jay and Khamin. The two had something in common: stubbornness and defiance. If something happened, he believed that the two of them would definitely not stay still. The sound of a phone beside him made Jade look down before picking it up.

[Where is the captain?] It was Thanakun who called.

“I’m going to look for Khamin.”

[Then the captain must hurry a bit.]

“Why?” The stern voice on the other end of the line made Jade speed up.

[I'm currently in the room that I suspect belongs to the perpetrator, named Putthi. There's information on the murder methods of each victim posted on the wall. There are also first aid kits, as if they were used to treat someone. All of these items were stolen from a hospital.]

“Have you checked?”

[Yes, and also, we found a list of names and pictures of all the victims' daily activities in the room.]

Jade frowned before turning into a deserted alley. [Give it here! Captain, quickly find the inspector. I've detected pyrophoric acid in this room. The criminal might have used it in this crime.]

Mirin's voice interrupted. He guessed that the three people from the forensic and forensic science department were in Putthi's room, which was a good thing. They would be able to help each other thoroughly and safely check everything.

"I know. You guys, collect the evidence. Take whatever you find back to the station." Jade hung up before parking the car in front of the only house in this deserted alley.

He got off his motorcycle, removed his helmet, and walked over to check on Khamin's parked car. He found a phone charging inside, which was probably why Khamin had cut off the call earlier.

Jade called for reinforcements to come here faster than before. His thick hand picked up the gun that was in the holster at his waist and held it before walking into the house. He tried to do everything as quietly as possible because he was afraid that the bad guy would hear and act rashly.

When he walked to the door and tried to turn the knob, he found it wouldn't open. Jade walked around the house until he found a window left wide open. He didn't have to think about who did it.

Once inside, Jade walked along the path until he found a cassette tape that had been torn into arrows leading to a door in a room not far away. The bad guy wouldn't be so kind as to give directions like this. It must be Khamin's doing.

Jade followed the arrow and opened the door to see that it was the way to the basement of the house. He walked down and found both blood stains and groaning sounds coming from the television in the middle of the room.

"P...brother, again, Jade." A soft but clear voice called out in Jade's mind, causing him to turn to look. The more he saw his younger brother's condition, covered in blood and his face pale, the more shocked he became.

"I'm here," Jade knelt in front of Jay before looking at his brother's chest, which was now covered in a familiar shirt and a cassette tape. He guessed the blood was coming from there. Jade picked up the walkie-talkie and spoke in a fierce tone, "Inform all units, especially the paramedics, to come to the scene as quickly as possible. I repeat, as quickly as possible!"

"P'Jade"

“No need to say anything. Save your energy.”

"Brother, Brother Min...is on top."

"I know. Be quiet." Jade tried to tell the boy in front of him to stop talking. The more he spoke, the more pained Jay's face became.

"Brother... I'm sorry...again. I'm really sorry."

"It's okay. Just listen to me. Everything will be fine. Just hold on, okay?" Jay nodded towards the large hand wiping his tears away.

“Stop it… Stop it. Stop it.” Jay pointed with all his strength at the five screens in front of him. He couldn't take it anymore. He couldn't stand to see all those deaths and cries anymore.

Jade walked over to the wires connecting them, angrily yanking the plugs out at once, then sat back down in front of Jay and gently stroked his brother's head. From the amount of blood on the floor, as much as he didn't want to think about it, he could tell that Jay would soon go into shock from the excessive blood loss.

"Let's... go help... P'Min."

“Then how can I leave you?”

"I didn't... abandon you. I never... abandoned you." Since his parents passed away, Jay was left with only his older brother. No matter how much trouble he caused or how naughty he was, Jay would scold him but never abandon him.

!!!

The loud noise from above made Jade look up, worried, unsure what was happening. Plus, Jay had said that Khamin was upstairs.

“Let’s go.” Jade looked down at his brother again before placing the radio in Jay’s hand.

“I told you to come in as quietly as possible because I’m afraid the bad guys will be aware of you. So they’ll let you know when they arrive. If they contact you, you have to answer the call and tell them your location. Okay?”

“Um,” Jay replied shortly.

“Don’t fall asleep, okay? If you don’t answer the radio, I’ll take back the motorcycle keys.” The younger brother forced a small smile. After all, his older brother still thought he would get out of here safely.

"Yes"

As for Khamin, who was secretly watching the events inside, he saw Puti and Pui Fai sitting with their backs to the door where he was hiding. In front of them were iron bars that held a man and a woman. He assumed that the two were losing their minds.

“Haha, you missed it, Cher. You’re going to cause yourself trouble in the future,” Pui Fai laughed before walking over to pick up the axe that Cherene had just thrown. However, it missed the chair next to it and instead hit the chair.

“How could you fool me?!”

“Just this lie. Why are you acting so hurt? You cheated on me, leaked my photos, made me get an abortion, and framed me with someone else. I didn't even say anything.” Pui Fai swung the axe in her hand before looking at the couple inside.

“Alright, we've wasted enough time. Let's end the game. Champ Cherene, Dare or Dare.”

“I’m not playing your stupid games!”

"Oh, really? Then fine." Pui Fai took the gun from Puti's hand before aiming it at Cherene and pulling the trigger.

Bang!!!

The bullet grazed her left shoulder, causing Cherene to cry out. Fear instantly rose in her heart when she saw that the weak cotton was gone. She didn't even think she would do anything.

"Cotton!!!" Champ shouted before walking over to check on the condition of the person who had just been shot earlier.

“You really love each other. It was worth it to have sex behind my back for so long.”

“Stop this already. I know you’re a better person than that.”

"Good person? What do you gain from being a good person? Does being a good person mean you have to be the only one being treated badly? Huh! Then I'd rather not be one. It's boring." This time, Pui Fai pointed the muzzle of the gun at Champ before pulling the trigger on his right shoulder.

Bang!!!

“I’ve helped you a lot, Che. Look at how kind I am. Champ’s dominant arm is injured. He might not be able to use his weapon to kill you properly, okay"

"What"

“I already said that only one person can get out of here. Choose whether to let yourself die…” Pui Fai’s eyes shone with madness, so much so that both Champ and Cherene knew they had no other choice. “Or let the other person die instead.”

“W-what should I do, Champ? Do something!” Cherene started crying in fear. But when she turned to her lover, hoping to find a way out of this situation, she felt a tingling sensation all over her body because Champ’s gaze had changed. It had become a cold gaze, like a tiger’s. A tiger trapped in a cage, trying to survive.

"I think he knows what he's going to do. Fight, Cherene." Pui Fai sneered before walking over and sitting on Puti's lap to watch the fun unfold from the last game she had planned.

Champ stood up and walked back to his side. He paused for a moment before releasing his hand from the shoulder that had been shot and reaching for the sledgehammer.

"Cha...Champ"

"My father is sending me abroad. I have a bright future, so I can't die." Seeing the gaze he gave, Cherene knew that the person in front of her didn't choose Pui Fai's first challenge. Champ didn't choose to die. She started to back away and grabbed something to throw at Champ, who was walking towards her.

"So you think I don't have a bright future waiting for me?!"

"Look at your family and mine, who have a better future! I don't have many choices either!" The two of them started yelling at each other because of the fear that was eating away at their hearts. This fear made them try to find a way to survive, no matter what.

Khamin, who was standing watching, felt someone approaching from behind him, so he turned and threw a punch without holding back. The sound of the punch hitting his face came at the same time as Champ threw the hammer onto the ground in front of Cherene. Both Puti and Pui Fai were unaware of the two police officers outside.

"It's me, Min."

"Jade! What the hell are you doing coming in so quietly?"

The two of them whispered to each other, afraid that their voices would get through. Jade rubbed his jaw lightly before turning to look at Khamin. When he saw that the other person was still safe, he felt relieved. "Have you found Jay yet? Have you gone to see him yet?"

“Look, reinforcements are coming. We need to stop them now.”

“You can’t rush in. The bad guys have guns. If they don’t shoot back at us, we might shoot Champ and Cherene.”

"I'll lure Puti out. You find a way to deal with Fai."

“Okay.” Khamin looked at Jade’s serious face again before reaching out to gently stroke his reddened jawline. “

“Excuse me"

“It’s okay, but when this is over, you have to let me get it back.”

"Will you give it back to me slowly?"

"Nothing else." Jade leaned down to kiss Khamin's cheek before pulling out his gun and going downstairs again. The loud noise downstairs made Khamin quickly hide behind the door.

Not long after, Puti actually walked out following the sound. He stepped down to find the source of the sound, as per Jade’s plan. Khamin then started his own plan.

“Don’t think anyone will come to help. Even though Jay is lying dead downstairs,” Pui Fai continued to look at the two people who had started attacking each other.

“Let’s continue. I’m still waiting for the winner.”

Cherene was standing at the corner of the bars, crying and trembling with fear, but still holding the hammer tightly in her hand. If she hadn't dodged the hammer earlier, it would have hit her head.

"Stop it, champ!"

“You’re the one who should stop running away,” Champ quickly combed his hair.

When he first received the letter and the bottle of medicine, he hesitated to take action. Even after taking Cherene to the condo, he still hesitated. But if his secret was revealed, his father would be very angry and would cut off his money and cut him off from the family. So, he would give Cherene to the bad guy, and everything would be over.

That was why he chose to drug Cherene’s orange juice. But he made the mistake of forgetting that he shouldn’t trust that kind of person either. He made the mistake of accepting the can of beer from the cunning person in front of him.

“Stay still, and I will make sure you don’t get hurt.”

Champ lunged at Cherene without warning, swinging his hammer at her with all his might. However, the small and agile Cherene dodged the attack and stabbed Champ in the side. Unfortunately, it only grazed her, leaving a long wound, but it wasn't a serious injury.

"Are you going to stab me? Are you going to stab me, Ezer?!" It was like being humiliated and betrayed at the same time.

Champ could no longer control himself. He was so angry that blood rushed to his face. Before he could run in and grab Cherene's arm, he threw her smaller body and slammed it against the bars with such force that the needle in her hand fell to the floor. Cherene tried to crawl away but was grabbed by the ankle and dragged back in.

“Champ, no! No!” Champ raised his arms as high as he could before looking at the person beneath him with a merciless gaze.

"Stop! This is the police!" Khamin walked up behind Pui Fai, grabbed her by the neck, and pressed a knife down her back.

"Ah, I thought it was someone else. It's actually the police lieutenant."

“Stop it, Fai. Let them out. The game is over.”

“It’s over? Hahaha, how can the game end if there’s no winner?”

"Even if someone dies, the one left behind isn't the winner; it's you, right?" Pui Fai smiled happily before looking at Champ, who was also looking back at her.

"No, it must be one of them. Because the one who isn't dead is the one who survived." Pui Fai's words seemed to add fuel to Champ's insanity.

“I… again. I love you, Champ. I really love you. Please stop.”

“What should we do, Champ? Do we take the initiative and emerge victorious, or should we wait for the darkness to cut through your heart?”

“Champ... again, I beg you.”

“I will survive,” Champ said before looking at Cherene with a cold gaze. “I will be the one to survive!!!”

"Stop it, champ!!!"

!!!

It was too late; a thirty-pound hammer was swung at Cherene's head with full force. The screams from before instantly died down, but instead of striking once, the champion repeatedly attacked it, making a cracking sound in his skull. Cherene's face was completely unrecognisable. As the centre caved in, the two halves of her face separated, and brain matter gushed out and stained the floor, mixing with the crimson blood.

“Let me out, I won,” Champ said without getting up from Cherene’s lifeless body.

“See, Inspector? I told you there would be a winner,” Pui Fai held up a key. “You want it, don’t you? Take it.”

Khamin felt a strange premonition that the woman in front of him had agreed so easily despite all the planning. So he chose not to accept it and instead pushed the tip of the knife into Puifai's back.

“Is the sergeant that suspicious? Hahaha, he really is a smart guy.” Pui Fai threw the key into the cage to Champ before smiling.

“Come out. You’ve won.”

Champ hurriedly grabbed the key on the floor before running to the door, but as soon as he touched the iron bars, his body was thrown out because of the force of the electric current circling it.

“Hahaha, do you really think you’ll win, Champ? I didn’t think you were this stupid.”

Pui Fai turned to look at Khamin with a playful expression, causing the person standing behind her to turn serious.

“I guess the lieutenant didn’t come here alone, right? That voice down there must have been a police officer, or maybe the captain, right? Should I give you a hint about what’s going to happen next?”

Pui Fai no longer fears death. She has experienced it so many times that she is used to it. She smirks at Khamin before pointing the tip of the knife at her own chest.

"Put didn't just go down following the sound the captain made. He went down to turn on the electricity for this cage and..." Pui Fai stared at Khamin relentlessly.

"The basement is about to catch fire. Inspector, do you think Brother Jade will go down to help his younger brother, or will he just focus on chasing the criminal?"
