Dare You To Death: Solve the Mystery, See the Death.
Investigation Part 23
Khamin shifted slightly, feeling the tightness around his body. When he opened his eyes, he saw the culprit: a beautiful, strong, tanned neck. The Adam's apple adorned it, adding to the sexiness of the person in front of him even more. He remembered that before he fell asleep, they had both slept with their backs to each other. He didn't know why, but when he woke up, he was in this state. The more he struggled to free himself, the tighter the arms became.
"Captain, Mr Jade, Jade !"
"Um"
"Wake up"
“Five minutes.”
“Then let go.” Khamin tried to shake off the arms that were hugging him, but he had to stop when a deep voice sounded above his head.
“Moving like this, do you know what’s happening?”
"I'm going to work now."
“Get up in half an hour,” Jade said, his eyes still closed. “The sergeant texted me saying he’ll bring a search warrant to my room in half an hour."
"I'll be waiting in the office."
"I'm stuck on a pillow."
"Already?"
“There’s no one here; it’s just you.” Khamin rolled his eyes and punched the other’s waist without holding back. But instead of loosening his grip, Jade tightened his hold until there was no space between them.
"Jade !"
"Are you going to hit me again?"
"I'm not your best friend. You're hugging the wrong person."
“My best friend? Who do you mean?”
"Whoever it is, let it go."
"Answer first, I'll let you go."
"No answer." Jade looked down at the person struggling in his arms before smiling slyly.
“You mean Yuki?”
“You are really annoying.”
“I used to like him, but that was a long time ago, when we were training together in the special unit. Plus, he has a boyfriend now. That blonde guy who’s been following me around is a dog. So, I’m single now.”
"I didn't ask."
“In case you want to know, to help you decide.”
"You're not going to let it go, are you?"
“Um,” Jade smiled when Khamin paused, but he soon cried out and released his arm unexpectedly. “Ouch! Khamin! It hurts."
“Serves you right.” Khamin lifted his head and bit Jade’s neck. Once he was free, he quickly got off the bed. “What are you doing? "
"I will file a complaint for assault on an officer."
"Send the summons. I'll go pay the fine myself," Khamin replied nonchalantly before walking out of the room, leaving the person on the bed rubbing his neck and Adam's apple. The warmth from the little person's lips hadn't faded, so a smile slowly appeared before Jade got up from the bed and followed Khamin.
The station's inspector looked strange today, with his clothes dishevelled, his hair messy, and his demeanour poor, causing his subordinates to avoid him. As soon as he saw him, Khamin walked back to his office and grabbed another set of shirts and pants he had kept in his closet, because he was still wearing the same clothes he had from last night.
Knock knock
“Come in.” Knocking on the door like that is definitely not that cunning, Captain.
"Sergeant, I've brought you a search warrant. Uh..."
"What"
"N-Nothing." Because he was about to change clothes, someone interrupted him. Khamin was left with his upper body completely bare, showing his smooth skin.
The entire police station knew that their inspector wasn't a big, muscular man like a captain, but no one had ever seen the true appearance of the person holding the highest position here. Upon seeing the young man, they couldn't take their eyes off him immediately. But a few seconds later, the front of the image was blocked by someone's thick palm behind him.
“Get lost!” The low, pressured voice startled the young policeman, who quickly turned away from Khamin.
"I...sorry, Captain!!!" Jade glanced at his subordinate, who had just run away, before turning back to look at the man who was wearing a new black shirt that wasn't buttoned up because he was too busy focusing on the two documents in his hands.
“Why don’t you dress properly?”
"This is a search warrant for Champ's house. This is a store used as a front for an illegal abortion clinic, but it seems to have been closed down." Khamin handed all the documents to Jade. After he received them, he slowly buttoned his shirt.
“Let’s go to Champ’s house first. By now, that kid is probably sleeping and hasn’t gone anywhere.”
“Hmm, wait a minute!” Khamin grabbed the arm of the person who was about to walk outside before looking away. “Are you going to change into your old clothes or go back home and change first?”
“Why? Didn’t you say you were in a hurry?”
"Are you going out looking like this?" Jade looked down at himself and understood what Khamin was saying. His shirt was tight enough to show off his figure. His grey sweatpants were also tight enough to show off his manhood.
Annoyed, “Aren’t you going to look at me to give me an order, Inspector?” Jade’s teasing voice made Khamin let out a breath.
“Go change, then meet me at the car.”
“Let’s talk for a bit, Khamin.”
"You can leave, Captain."
"Min," Jade laughed when Khamin threw a towel at his face and walked out of the room himself. He really likes it when Khamin acts angry or annoyed. It's... interesting.
Khamin walked to the common bathroom to change his pants. On the way, he cursed at the person he had just been with. Even though he had just glanced at them without paying attention, they were like that. He didn't want to think about the real thing. Oh my god. Then why would you think about the real thing?
"You're crazy, Khamin," the sergeant grumbled before changing clothes, washing his face, and brushing his teeth. He'll take care of the shower after he's finished inspecting both locations. When Khamin returned, he found Jade in his original clothes, standing with his arms crossed, reading a document in his hand.
"Tell him to wait in the car."
"I'm afraid you'll be scared and run off in another car." Khamin rolled his eyes before taking the car keys that Jade had held up and going in to get all his personal belongings.
They arrived at a large house with grounds befitting the home of a politician and Champ's father. Their arrival time was exactly seven o'clock, which seemed too early for a teenager to be awake. Instead, the first person they met was the boy's mother.
"Hello, Inspector Khamin, Captain Jade. I wonder if there's something wrong with you today?"
"I've come to see Champ."
"Do you have something to do with my son?"
“I have something I want to ask him about the case that happened.” She paused, her smile slowly fading as well.
“Didn’t my husband tell you that we’re not going to get involved in this case anymore?”
“Probably not. After all, he is one of the suspects in the case. If he doesn’t cooperate, it will create even more suspicion."
“Let me call my husband first.” Khamin didn’t reply. He just spread the search warrant out on the expensive glass table.
"It would be better to cooperate with the authorities," Jade added.
"What's going on, Mom?" Champ was wearing a jet-black satin nightgown, his hair neatly styled, before turning to look at Jade and Khamin.
“Are you awake, son? Go upstairs first.”
"Is something wrong, Brother Jade ?"
"Then let's get down to business. Come sit down." Champ nodded before walking over and sitting next to his mother, comforting her with an Anxious attitude.
“Where were you last night?” Khamin began to inquire when he saw that the boy in front of him was ready.
"I went to have dinner with Cherene."
“Can I have the details?”
“Yesterday, I spent the whole day with Cherene. I picked her up, went to the mall, watched a movie, ate dinner, and then took her home.”
“Your witness is Cherene, right?”
“Call and ask her.”
“Have you contacted Tonkla yet?”
“No.”
"Do you know this car?" Khamin nodded before pulling out a photo of the garage owner had taken when the car was inspected before it was repaired.
“Yes, it's my car.”
“This car used to be at a garage outside the city, or Tonkla’s garage, but last night it disappeared.”
“You came to me because your car was stolen? I don’t think that’s the police officer’s job to search for it.”
“If it just disappeared, I wouldn’t have come looking for you here. But it disappeared from the scene.”
“The crime scene?”
“The seedling died last night. Jay was also attacked.”
"What!"
“What a shame!” the mother and son cried out in shock.
“At the scene of the crime, your car was the only one missing. That’s why the owner of the car is the only suspicious person.”
“I may own the car, but I haven’t driven it in two weeks.”
“And who drives?”
"Time," Khamin turned to look at Jade, who was sitting beside him.
"Why did Time come to use your car?"
“I just bought a new car last month, so I haven’t been using it much. Then two weeks before that, Time’s motorcycle broke down, so he came and borrowed my car to ride.” Champ’s expression didn’t seem at all flustered or suspicious in Khamin’s eyes.
“Then why is it in the garage?”
"I don't know. Maybe he had a problem with the car and had it repaired. After all, Kla was working there anyway. Is Kla really dead? And how is Jay?"
"We can't reveal much information right now. If I need anything, I'll contact you again." Khamin and Jade walked out of the house to continue working on the case. The new information they had just received was useful in issuing a summons for Time to come in for further questioning.
“Should we go check out the illegal clinic first, or should we go see Time?”
“Let’s go find that kid named Time first. I have a weird feeling.”
"Wait, Inspector," Champ called out to the pair from behind, walking down to them with an expressionless face. "I think you'd like this."
"What?" Jade reached out to take the flash drive that Champ handed him.
"Try opening it yourself. I think it might help with the case." Jade's phone rang. Champ took the opportunity to excuse himself and walked into the house.
"How is it going?"
[Captain, we've found the missing car.]
"Where"
[An abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. The patrolling police were notified by a junk collector that a car was found inside and...]
“And what?”
[A body was found that appears to be that of a teenage boy. The body was naked. It is assumed that he was murdered.]
“Has anyone checked to see who the deceased is?”
[Um, the captain should come and see for himself.] Jade nodded, signalling Khamin to get in the car before driving in the direction his subordinate had indicated.
“What happened?” Khamin asked, as the other party drove with a more serious, hurried expression than usual.
“A missing car was found at the scene, and a body was also found nearby.”
"Who?"
"I do not know yet"
After almost half an hour, the two finally arrived in front of an abandoned warehouse. In front of them, two police officers were standing guard.
"Sergeant Major, hello."
“Is there a corpse inside?”
"Yes, I've already informed the evidence collection and forensics unit that they're coming, so we're standing guard around the area."
“Then why aren’t you guarding the inside?” The two officers looked at each other with frightened expressions before opening the door and gesturing for their leader to come inside.
Inside a medium-sized, deserted warehouse, it was dimly lit with no windows, but sunlight still shone through the galvanised steel, streaking in some spots. The musty smell of rusted iron, stagnant water, and algae made people turn away in nausea. In front of Khamin and Jade, a car was parked. All four doors and the headlights were on. The two looked at each other before walking to two different sides. The closer they got, the brighter the light made everything clearer. Until...
A pile of old television sets were arranged like works of art in an exhibition, but that wasn't its main attraction. In the middle sat the body of an unidentified young man, his arms and legs slung over a chair made up of televisions. He was completely naked, with nothing covering him except for the thick red blood slowly flowing down his chest. Looking up from his stomach to his thick chest and broad shoulders, he saw a television screen in place of his head, and the word "Dare" was written on the screen. Khamin put on his gloves and walked back to the rear of his car because he had heard something.
"It's not Jay," Jade said from the front of the car, because he remembered his younger brother's appearance well.
“Um, not Jay,” Khamin replied before opening the trunk. “Time.”
At the back of the car, a part of the front corpse was missing. It was Time's severed head. His eyes, ears, and lips were sewn shut with white thread. Beside him, a cassette tape player was playing continuously. It was like a stuttering voice, making the words incomprehensible.
But what's important now is that the murder case has only three victims left, or should we say, suspects?
