Dare You To Death: Solve the Mystery, See the Death.

Investigation Part 2

The front of the famous club in the province has been packed since early evening. Khamin is no exception. He has been waiting for the person who received the case for almost 30 minutes. The owner of the navy blue shirt has two buttons unbuttoned, revealing his white chest. Black slacks match the same colour high-heeled shoes. His hair, once styled, is left naturally down. The serious look from the daytime is gone, making Khamin look much younger. As he is lifting his watch to check the time, someone walks up and stands in front of him with a single lit cigarette.

"I don't smoke," he said, looking up at the man who looked younger but had a rather arrogant look.

“Can I have your number?”

“I'm not comfortable.”

“If it’s inconvenient, just tell me your number.” The young man blew smoke into Khamin’s face before leaning in and inhaling the nicotine again. But just as he was about to exhale the toxic smoke, Khamin raised his hand to cover the person’s mouth with force and pushed the person against the wall. The split-second action caused the intended smoke release to flow back inside, choking the person holding it. However, he still tried to curse the person watching from the corner of his eye.

“T...cough, you!!”

"This is not a smoking area. The sign says so." Khamin stepped on the cigarette on the ground, extinguishing it under his foot. Just as the young man stood up and was about to charge at the new police officer, Khamin grabbed his waist to dodge the punch. He then kicked the boy in the shoulder, knocking him down.

"Who the hell is this?" When he turned to see who the person who kicked him was, his mouth, which was about to curse a hundred times, suddenly shut. "Hey Jade, are you... coming to the party today?"

"Uh, what's the matter?" Jade quickly combed his jet-black hair. His tight-fitting black shirt, ripped open at the top, revealed his thick chest muscles, matching his pants.

"He came looking for trouble with me first. I just asked for his number!" The young man took the opportunity to stand up, brush the dust off his faded pants, and point at the person still in Jade's arms, scolding him with a serious expression.

Jade glanced at the person in his arms. He didn't think that the person next to him would be smaller than he looked. His waist was incredibly thin.

"Then why did you ask for my kid's number?"

Khamin shifted his gaze to look at Jade, but just as he was about to refuse, the other party lightly squeezed his waist.

"Is this your brother's kid?!"

"Um"

"Um...then I won't interfere. I'm sorry!!" Khamin's expression was both fearful and considerate, leaving him unsure whether the person beside him was a police officer or a mafia boss at a gambling den.

“Can you release me yet?”

"Tonight, you're my boy. If I let you go, people will be suspicious." Jade deliberately leaned down until his lips were close to Khamin's ear. "Tonight, I'd like to borrow your waist to rest my hands on."

The two walked inside without leaving an inch between them. Khamin gave in because he thought it would be more convenient for the case. He was lazy, and he would have to face the same problems as in the previous incident. As for Jade, he just thought he felt satisfied by teasing the person in his arms.

The famous Drink Me club is the most popular restaurant-club in the area. Even on weekdays, it's always packed. The interior is divided into two levels. The first level has a bar, plenty of tables, and a stage for bands. The second level is a mezzanine that offers views down below. In addition to a wide selection of alcoholic drinks, the club also serves food. The club has a clearly designated outdoor smoking area, so it's not too stuffy.

People were walking around, some dancing, some getting drunk, so much so that they almost bumped into Khamin. But because there was a thick arm around his waist, he didn't get hit or fall. The two of them walked to sit at a table not far from the bar counter, but it was quite a blind spot. When they got a seat, Khamin immediately pulled away from Jade.

"Tee, you're in a hurry. What do you want to drink?" Jade sat down in a relaxed manner. The young man leaned back on the bright red velvet sofa, resting his arms on it, looking at Khamin, who was sitting there.

“I'm working.”

"As you wish." Jade turned to order the strong liquor he often drank, then looked around without lingering on any one place for too long, which was quite annoying.

“Are you sure it’s scheduled for today?”

"That's what the report says."

“The document doesn’t specify the time. Do you know what time it is?”

"Why? Do I have to go to bed before 9 p.m.?" Jade lifted the brandy glass the waiter had brought earlier and took a sip with a smile on his lips, causing the person next to him to look at him with an unhappy expression.

“Can you stop bothering me for a minute?”

“I can stop, but I won’t do it. Is something wrong?” Khamin rolled his eyes and shook his head in exasperation. This was only the first day, and he didn’t know how things would turn out. “Stop sitting there with your back straight, hands on your knees, and your eyes roaming around. You’re acting so obviously. Why don’t you just hang the badge around your neck?”

“So what should I do? Drinking while working on a case, acting all serious?”

“The people who are delivering the drugs here aren’t locals, so they don’t know who the police are. But your scrutinising attitude will make them suspicious.”

"Khun Jade!" Jade pulled Khamin up to sit on his lap before grabbing his waist with one hand. The more Khamin struggled, the tighter his arms tightened around him.

"Stay still, they're coming." Jade raised his glass of liquor and took a sip, not taking his eyes off the newly arrived group. They were dressed like ordinary tourists, but all three of them had black bags in their hands. He had received a report from the undercover detective about where the group that was coming today had arranged to meet. It was at a table just two tables away from them, and they had to walk past his table first. Jade therefore chose to sit at this table.

"Holy shit!"

"What?"

“See that guy in the white Hawaiian shirt? He owns a local cattle ranch. He knows I’m a cop.” Jade was about to pick up the menu and shield his face, but before he could, the man in his lap cupped his face and leaned in close enough that he could feel their warm breaths as their noses met.

“This is an interesting idea.”

“Quiet, please.”

“You still can’t hide me.” Jade playfully hugged Khamin’s waist a little closer.

“That’s better.”

“Shut up, Jade.” Khamin froze there, tensed. The distance between their faces was barely an inch. If he moved too much, he might miss. “Is he gone yet?”

"Not yet." Jade looked back at the charming face and saw that the drug dealer who had arranged to deliver the goods today had already taken his seat at his table.

“If you lie, I will transfer you.”

"Abusing power."

“It’s my business.” Khamin turned to look behind him, and when he saw the assailant sitting at the table, he pulled away and slammed his knee into the owner’s ribs with moderate force.

“Ouch! It hurts!”

“What are you doing? Keep an eye on them. I’ll go call for reinforcements and get ready.” Khamin got up and walked straight to the bathroom to call his men, who were waiting outside.

This case involves a raid on a mid-sized drug dealer who was illegally selling drugs to locals. Previously, no one had been able to do anything because these people were always on the lookout for every arrest. Now that the previous lieutenant has been removed and today's raid is nearing success, it's clear why they hadn't been caught before.

"Sergeant, prepare your men. Wait for Captain Jade to give the signal, and then you can charge in."

[I understand.] As soon as the conversation ended, someone entered the bathroom. It was a young man, 185 centimetres tall. His shirt was a Tark blue colour that matched his smoky grey hair. The dimples on his cheeks made the young man in front of him look even more charming.

Khamin didn't pay much attention to it. He chose to wash his hands so as not to be noticed. After finishing his business, he walked out the door. But when he opened the door, his sharp eyes saw that one of the drug gang's subordinates was walking towards him. He didn't know if they were walking to the bathroom as usual or because they had sensed it in time. Still, Khamin chose to go back inside, dragging the young man, who was completely uninformed, into the same bathroom to prevent any unexpected events.

"You wait there," the newcomer's voice sounded even louder, making Khamin wary and accidentally raising his hand to cover the person in front of him's mouth. The kid he had dragged in hit his palm, forcing Khamin to turn and say, "Shut up," without making a sound. The other person just frowned back, not knowing.

Why does he feel so familiar with this attitude?

His arms were free, and the sound of a soft bowel movement and the flushing of a toilet came from another room, followed by the sound of a door opening and closing, which made him release the child in the circle.

“What?”

“A little accident.” Khamin was about to reach out to unlock the bathroom door, but the boy next to him reached out and grabbed it first.

“Do I need a better explanation than force majeure? You dragged me into the bathroom like this?”

"So I've let it go."

"But I didn't consent to it just now. I can report you to the police." Khamin rolled his eyes at the boy standing in front of him, arms crossed and a face like that. Be serious with him.

"Are you satisfied after running away from your girlfriend?"

“Why are you running away?”

"We broke up, so I don't want to see you. Get out of here. I have something to do." But instead of the boy hiding, the other party smiled, revealing a dimple on his right cheek.

"Like this, I'm single, right?" The phone vibrated in his pocket, causing Khamin to pick it up and look. It was a call from the unit waiting outside. He had to hurry now.

"Yeah, get out of the way!!" Khamin grabbed the boy's arm to get him out of the way before opening the door and running out, leaving only the boy smiling behind him. The sound of a black phone in the pocket of his pale pants made the young man pick it up and put it to his ear without looking.

"How is it going?"

[What's up, Mr Jay? Get back to your table already. Did you get to the pipe? Did you take so long to pee?]

"Yeah, I'm on my way. I found something good in the bathroom."

(No, no, you can't go back to anyone today. Tomorrow is the last day of the freshman orientation, my friend.)

My heart said, “I know.” Even though I secretly regret not asking for the other person’s contact information, I can say that tonight he got to see something cute and refreshing.

Khamin returned to the table and saw a pair of pitch-black eyes staring at him. As he approached, he was actually bitten just as he had thought.

"Just ordering my subordinates to prepare took this long to talk. From now on, it's going to be really difficult."

“Are they done trading yet?” Khamin chose to ignore the taunts and picked up his gun, readying himself when he saw the officers starting to infiltrate the shop and gradually escorting the guests outside.

“All done.” Jade downed the last of his glass of brandy before standing up to prepare for the raid.

They split up and went their separate ways. Jade walked around the back of the drug dealer's chair, while Khamin walked around to the back of the dealer's chair. They looked at each other before signalling the officers in the area.

“You guys are under arrest for possession with intent to sell narcotics.” The pitch-black barrel of the gun pointed so close to the head that the bad guys could only raise their hands above their heads. The dealer, who was about to draw his weapon, froze when he felt a cold chill on his temples.

"Put the gun down," Khamin said in a calm tone, unlike the force that had pressed the gun against the person's temple, causing the person's head to tilt slightly to the side.

All of the subordinates who were about to help the officers surrounded their boss. This arrest would lead to further progress against other dealers in the future. This was truly the first case for the new Inspector Khamin.

"Take them all back to the station."

"Acknowledged!" With the mission complete, Khamin set the safety on his gun before putting it back in its holster. He had to get back to writing reports, the case, and proceeding with the detention, but the force on his shoulder from his arm, slung down, brought him to a sudden halt.

"What"

"The case is over."

“Just because you get caught doesn’t mean it’s over.”

“Your first case, aren’t you going to celebrate?”

"I have to go back to work," Jade handed Khamin a glass of brandy he'd brought at some point. The sharp-featured man raised an eyebrow before clinking the two glasses together and downing the entire thing in one gulp.

"Consider it an honour to drink with me, and I'll go to work with you." Khamin looked at Jade's face, then at the glass again, and picked it up. He finished it. At least the other party was very helpful in this case.

“Are you satisfied?”

"I'm satisfied."

When he walked outside, Khamin had to hold onto the person in front of him.

“Are you going to ride a motorcycle back?”

“Or will you carry me back?”

“How many glasses did you drink?”

“Less than every time I come”

"Leave the car here. Go to my car," Jade smiled before throwing the keys to the subordinate who was walking towards him.

"Sergeant, please take the car back to the station."

"The captain won't take it back himself."

"It just so happens that the new sergeant invited me back." Jade put his arm around Khamin's shoulder again, but this time the other officer kicked him in the shin, forcing him to let go. "You! You're hurting me again!"

"See you at the car." Khamin walked back to the car, ignoring the person who was rubbing his shin.

“Captain, do I really have to ride your motorcycle back? How many drinks did you have? Are you drunk?”

“Just three.”

"Oh, so you're not drunk? Are you being a tease?"

"Ken"

"Heh, excuse me. So what do we do? Go back with the police lieutenant?"

"Yes, I'll discipline the stubborn ones."

"What are you trying to subdue? You were kicked just now, and you were screaming." Jade glanced at his close subordinate again from the corner of his eye. The other man chuckled softly and hurriedly drove off with his motorcycle, not forgetting to warn him that he would definitely not use it to measure road surfaces or bless electric poles.

Jade walked to the luxurious car he had seen at the station before and sat in the passenger seat. He leaned in close to Khamin until their noses brushed against each other. His beautiful brown eyes stared at him without looking away, and there was even a hint of annoyance in them.

“What will you do?”

"Then what would you have a drunk person do?"

“If you don’t stop playing, I’ll drop you in the middle of the road.”

"You won't." Jade smiled, revealing a slight dimple on his right cheek. It was a smile that Khamin felt like he had seen somewhere before.

The cold muzzle of the gun pointed at his chin made Jade laugh before raising his hands in surrender and pulling Khamin's seatbelt back into place.

“Driving without a seatbelt is dangerous. I mean well.”

"I hope your work is as effective as your mouth."

Two new things Jade learned tonight about the man next to her: the new lieutenant was as meticulous as he had ever heard, and his beautiful brown eyes sparkled with a truly captivating light.
