Billionaire Biker Boy

Chapter 29 -  My Superhero

Once Samut finished painting the small jar, he left it with the shop owner to dry, then waved to the little girl.

"I'm heading out now, Nui. Bye-bye!"

"Byeee, P'O!" The little girl waved back at the chatty older brother before returning her focus to her painting.

"I didn't know you liked kids," Wonchana remarked.

"I wouldn't say I like them that much. Some kids can be a real headache. But that little one was cute. It means her parents raised her really well."

"Then you should meet my niece and nephews. They're coming to Thailand at the end of the month."

"P'Vick's kids?"

"Yeah, the two older ones are twin boys, Louis and Liam. They're about 3.5 years old. The youngest is a girl named Windy, and she's five months old now."

"They must be stunningly handsome and beautiful."

"They all look like dolls... Oh, I need to go buy them some toys. Let's stop by the mall this evening. Come help me pick something out."

"Sure, but I'm not very good at choosing toys."

"That's okay. Just being there to cheer me on is enough." The one who kept getting teased was starting to feel like he was getting used to the constant flirting, but he still couldn't help rolling his eyes. He muttered under his breath, "My heart is this small. Stop making it work overtime."

"Is your heart alright? Let me take care of it," Wonchana teased back, pretending not to understand. Samut bared his teeth and said, "Let's eat first. I'm starving."

Wonchana laughed and led the smaller man to the food zone by the canal, where paddle boats and long-tail boats offered scenic rides. Whatever Samut wanted to eat, the generous man bought without hesitation.

"Jang Lon! They have Jang Lon here!" Samut exclaimed when he spotted his favourite snack.

"Go ahead. How many do you want?" Wonchana asked, pulling out a 1000-baht bill.

"Just two. Otherwise, I won't have room for anything else." By the time they reached their table, they had two Jang Lons, which were fish cakes on sticks, grilled squid, chive dumplings, salt-crusted grilled snakehead fish, grilled salmon belly skewers, scallops baked with cheese, and the most surprising item for Samut, a crispy oyster omelette made in a khanom krok mould. They also had young coconut water and lemongrass juice served in bamboo tubes.

....The latter was bought solely for the packaging.

Since the table was a small bamboo one, Wonchana had to sit across from Samut. But that didn't stop him from helping the smaller man. After wiping his hands clean, Samut happily picked up a Jang Lon stick to eat first.

"Do you like Jang Lon or fried fish cakes more?" Wonchana asked, holding up his phone, ready to snap a picture. The way the Chihuahua bit into the Jang Lon was irresistibly cute.

"I like Jang Lon. It's easy to eat and not greasy, but it's hard to find."

Click.

The shutter clicked as Samutr bit into the Jang Lon horizontally again.

"P'Win! Candid photos? That's so rude," the one being photographed protested, though not too seriously.

"I just wanted a new picture of you."

"What picture?"

Wonchana didn't answer. Instead, he turned his phone screen to show Samut. The wallpaper was a picture of Samut, his cheeks puffed out on both sides, chewing on a fried fish cake.

...A picture Wonchana had secretly obtained from Sakawjai.

"Hey, P'Win! Why didn't you pick a better picture?" Samut complained upon seeing it. Wonchana grinned widely.

....He wasn't upset about his picture being used as my wallpaper.

....He was upset about why it wasn't a better picture.

"Then I'll use this selfie instead," Wonchana said, showing him a selfie they'd taken at a Japanese restaurant.

"Mmmph," was all Samut could say, his mouth still full of Jang Lon. And then it hit him.

...This feels just like being a couple.

Sirichok followed the group of three, glancing around nervously for anyone in red. He couldn't very well tell the three people in front of him to go somewhere else for food and sightseeing, especially since he'd agreed to this trip to please the woman's parents.

"Oat, what's wrong?" the woman asked.

"It's just a bit hot... There are more people here than expected," he replied.

"Well, it's Father's Day. Of course, it's crowded," the older man pointed out.

"Hm... Maybe I should find a place with air conditioning? That way, you can eat comfortably," Sirichok suggested.

"But it's almost noon. Restaurants will be packed too. Why don't we just buy food and eat at home?" the older woman suggested. The daughter made the decision. "If we take food home, we'll have to clean up afterwards. Let's just eat here."

Sirichok had no choice but to follow the three as they picked out food, his 1000-baht bill ready in hand. But the older man handed his daughter two 1000-baht bills instead.

"It's Father's Day. Let me treat you. You two keep your money."

And so, the daughter paid while Sirichok carried the food bags. Once they finished shopping, they sat down to eat at a table. And then, what Sirichok had been dreading happened...

Halfway through their meal, the two men in matching red outfits walked straight toward them. Sirichok quickly turned his face away, pretending to look at the surrounding shops. But he'd utterly forgotten that...

...the woman next to him knew both of them.

════[changbins_delulu_wife]════

"Is it too spicy? Do you want more sweet drinks?" Wonchana asked, concerned, as the person beside him turned red on the face, nose, and lips, with tears welling up. He handed over another tissue.

"Don't worry, P'Win. I can handle spicy food. But this squid sauce is insanely spicy," he blew his nose into the tissue as he spoke. Despite knowing how spicy the sauce was, he kept dipping into it enthusiastically.

"...lt'll be better in a bit." But Samut’s voice trailed off when he locked eyes with a woman. The smaller man smiled and gave a slight nod, but when he noticed the man beside her turning his face away, he hesitated for a moment.

...Samut decided to walk past without saying a word.

"Hmph. Just started working and already snagged the boss, huh? Such a shameless man. And look at that, he held his head so high. Soon, he won't respect anyone at the company but the good. At least he won't bother you anymore, Oat," Nittaya sneered after the two men walked away.

"Who was that, dear?" her mother asked.

"A new hire at the company, Mom. He's in the same department as me. He's Oat's friend from Songkhla. He's gay and had a crush on Oat, but Oat isn't into that. He then begged Oat to help him land a job at the company, and Oat couldn't say no because he'd helped him out back in school. And as soon as he started working, he snagged the vice president, who's also gay. Talk about luck," Nittaya explained.

"P'Yaya, just leave him be. It's better if we all stay out of each other's way. And don't start anything with him. He's got strong backing, and we don't want trouble," Sirichok said.

"Well, I don't want to get involved, but just seeing him annoys me. I hate people like that... And stop calling me like that. Just call me Yaya," the woman snapped in irritation. Before Sirichok could respond, the older man advised. "Dear, if you don't like him, just stay away from each other, as Oat said."

"Fine... I won't bother him. But he better not bother me first."

Sirichok sighed in relief. He wasn't sure if Samut had seen him, but for now, the secret was safe.

As for that little guy, one day, I'll win him back!

════[changbins_delulu_wife]════

Wonchana, who had been observing the smaller man, actually noticed the group. But he felt relieved when he saw Samut's reaction. That was the reaction of someone who had already moved on.

"P'Win, I want ice cream. The reviews say it's the best," Samut said, tugging at his arm.

Wonchana didn't object and followed the smaller man, his heart light as Samut led him through the market. Along the way, they were stopped by a vendor selling khanom buang, or a crispy Thai pancake, who offered samples.

"Free samples! No strings attached. But once you try, you'll want to buy boxes to share with all your friends and family."

Samut took a sample wrapped in plastic, tasted it, and his eyes lit up. "This is sooo yum!" he exclaimed, drawing out the words. He turned to the vendor and asked, "Can I have another piece, handsome?"

"Of course! Take two more," the vendor replied, generously handing over more samples. Samut unwrapped the second piece and held it up to Wonchana's mouth. "P'Win, try it. It's really good."

Wonchana, who usually didn't eat snacks, obediently opened his mouth and ate it. After swallowing, he said, "You're right. It's delicious. Should we buy some for your friends at work? I'll get three boxes for my secretaries."

He nodded eagerly, figuring the trio in his department would enjoy this snack. "I'll take two boxes."

By the time they reached the ice cream shop, Samut had sampled so many snacks along the way that he was nearly bursting. But he didn't buy anything else except for some coconut pancakes called khanom babin, as most of the delicious treats were coconut-based and couldn't be kept long. Plus, he worried that if they bought too much, the bike's rear storage box might explode.

"Come and try! Coconut and fruit ice cream made from real, fresh ingredients! Get your money back if you're not satisfied!" the ice cream vendor called out.

"Can I try some...?"

Samut dashed over, eyes dazzling as he fixated on the ice cream display.

"What flavour would you like?" The vendor readied a small plastic spoon for a sample. Seeing Samut still unable to decide, Wonchana stepped in and asked for a suggestion. "Which flavour is your bestseller?"

"They're all popular, but the top ones are longan, jackfruit, and mixed coconut."

"Can I try all three?" Samut asked, flashing a sweet smile at her for him.

"Of course." The vendor scooped a sample of each flavour

As soon as the foodie tasted them, it was as if light radiated from his mouth. "Wowww, it's so fragrant! It's like they blended the actual fruit into it!"

"You can pick three flavours for one cup. It's only twenty-five baht. Normally, it's ten baht per scoop."

And so, Samut ended up with a cup of ice cream, even though his little belly was almost bursting. As they walked out of the shop, he suddenly remembered something. The smaller man scooped a bite of longan ice cream and offered it to the taller man.

"P'Win, try this. It's tasty!"

Wonchana leaned down and tasted the ice cream, then smiled as he watched Samut happily savour the rest of the scoop.

...This feels like an indirect kiss.

════[changbins_delulu_wife]════

"P'Win! I almost forgot that we need to pick up the jar!"

Samut exclaimed after tossing his empty ice cream cup into the trash. He grabbed the taller man's hand and led him back to the art shop.

When they arrived, the paint on the jar had dried.

The white jar featured a funny-looking red dog, with blue lines crisscrossing to form a grid. The background was a chaotic mix of blue, yellow, and orange...a true masterpiece of messy art. Samut handed the small jar to Wonchana with a squinty-eyed smile.

"This is for you... my superhero."

Wonchana's lips curved into a smile, so wide it nearly reached his ears. He hadn't expected Samut to do something like this for him, and it filled his heart with joy.

The superhero accepted the little jar and made a heartfelt promise.

"Thank you... This hero swears he'll protect you from “every villain forever."
