[**From this chapter onwards, the term brother doesn't mean a blood relative brother. It's a Thai term used as a sign of respect, particularly for age and politeness. I am British, and still find this a bit unusual. 🙈 **]
"Thiar, are you going to bed early today?"
"Yes, Mom. Tonight we have to go out and catch the Black Bull gang."
“Is it moving?” Even Father knew about this mission.
“Yes, it's time.”
“Take care of your brother.”
The mother raised her hand and lightly patted her son's shoulder. Thiar nodded in acknowledgement. He promised himself that there was absolutely no way he would let anything happen to his younger brother.
Promise for the rest of your life.
The mission will begin at 2:30 AM, so all officers on this mission must get as much sleep as possible to recharge.
In the master bedroom, the lights were off, and it was pitch black from around 9:30 PM because it wasn't time to go to bed yet, so that no one could sleep. The sound of people moving back and forth on the bed was good evidence.
How can he force himself to sleep when his body is still awake? The dragon tried to force himself to sleep, but his brain was working in the opposite direction. Finally, someone asked.
"What's wrong? Can't you sleep?"
“Excited?”
“Not at all. It’s just not time for bed yet.”
“Just go to bed thirty minutes early.”
Usually, Thiartha and Dragon go to bed at exactly 10:00 PM, but there are times when someone tired from work accidentally falls asleep, and that person is Dragon.
“Sergeant, do you think we can catch them?”
It's still a long way off." "So what's there to worry about? These are just the downstream parts. We still need to investigate.
As he spoke, the old man's body moved closer, and he thought to himself, "I really hate this damn pillow. It's marking the boundary between him and his wife. It's faster than expected. The little person who was lying with his back turned didn't know that the soft pillow had moved.
“Go to sleep, you’ll get sleepy.”
“Yes.”
“Can’t sleep? Let me sing you a lullaby.”
The gentle voice whispered beside his ear, along with his breath blowing on his jet-black hair. The police sergeant sensed this closeness, and before he could turn back to look, a large hand grabbed his well-proportioned waist, holding onto it.
"Sa Inspector"
“Let’s go to sleep. It’s late. It’s already 10:00 PM. Are you sleepy yet?”
Oh my god, how could this make him even more sleepy? His round eyes widened, and his heart was pounding, but when the large hand gently stroked the back of his hand, it was too much for him to complain.
“You can sleep now.”
“Ah, oh.”
"It's cold today, don't you think?"
What does this sentence mean? The dragon didn't understand.
“Sweet dreams, Dragon.”
But the heart that had been beating fast just now slowly relaxed from the gentle, comforting touch, and drowsiness also set in. Finally, the beautiful eyelashes slowly closed with the steady inhalation and exhalation.
If the person lying on the back is secretly smiling in the dark corner, whether it's because of desire or what, the thin lips are leaning down, kissing the slender hair before saying the same words as before
“Good night.”
“War One, War Two, can you hear me?” Thiartha's deep voice came through the communication device.
"Yes, Inspector. We're on standby outside," Nod replied.
"The dragon, and I will go in soon."
A large truck starts to roll into a suburban warehouse. If they think they're on top, the police always get a step ahead. While the truck is loaded with illegal goods for tonight's delivery, it was actually seized days beforehand, without their knowledge.
“Get ready, dragon.”
"yes"
"What time?"
"It's two fifty."
Ten minutes until the appointed time. The car slowly arrived.
He went to the very back of the warehouse and then shut down the engine completely. The atmosphere inside was gloomy and dark, but the two police officers were looking around, trying to remember the entrance and exit.
Not long after, a large man in a black robe walked in. His face had a long scar, and his sharp eyes were filled with suspicion as he looked into the mirror before giving a curt order.
“Is everything in the car?”
"yes"
"Come down and open the trunk for me to see," the man said, nodding to the other two men who followed.
Thiartha turned to look at the dragon for a moment before the two of them got out of the car without hurrying. The police sergeant raised his hand to adjust his hat.
He tightened his grip to conceal his face as he walked towards the back of the car. At that moment, he tried to look around, and his eyes caught sight of the wooden crates that were arranged at different heights.
They must be making a lot of money.
"open"
"I'm calm."
“Am I your playmate? Hurry up!”
"Yes, yes," the young police officer teased as he opened the back door of the car. He used a flashlight to look inside the boxes, which contained both firearms and a White plastic medicine bag.
“This is good stuff.”
“We’re not transporting shitty stuff anyway.”
"Brother, please count the items first. Is it complete?" said another subordinate.
"Oh, don't order me around."
They were calmly counting the goods, but just as the dragon stood still, waiting for orders, his eyes caught sight of something deep in the warehouse. Inside were Buddha statues and antique jewellery that were smuggled in illegally. He moved closer and whispered to inform his master.
“Sergeant... those boxes...”
Thiartha nodded slightly without saying anything. At this moment, he tried to remain as calm as possible and signalled with his hand for Mangkorn to take a picture with the hidden camera.
Everything was going according to plan. Still, suddenly a warning sounded, making the pair instantly aware that the warehouse had a radio-wave detector that would automatically activate when it sensed movement.
Damn, you're so smart.
"Hey, bro!"
Attention was immediately diverted from two to four. They ran in and surrounded the two officers, raising their guns and aiming, and the sergeant, who was assessing the situation, started to move to use his body to block the younger man.
“Mr Dragon, step back.”
The police lieutenant raised his hand and pretended to negotiate because, at the time, they still didn't know they were police.
“Take it easy, bro. We’re just delivering something. It’s nothing special.” Thiartha’s tone was calm, almost friendly, but his eyes held a hint of caution.
"You son of a bitch! Who the hell would believe that?" the group leader roared before ordering his men to "Catch him!"
One of them rushed in as ordered, his long hand reaching out to grab the strong arm, but with his wits and Instinct, he missed his chance and was thrown to the ground by Thiartha.
The situation is getting worse... fighting is inevitable.
“You guys are going to play like this, right? Okay.”
“Dragon, run!”
Thiartha shouted before dodging to the left. The opponent's gun was immediately fired. A loud bang resounded throughout. The bullets slammed into the stacked wooden crates, causing them to fall with a loud noise. The dragon quickly hid behind the boxes and raised his gun to fight back. Did he think that he would only shoot one side?
You bastards!
“Inspector.”
“You signal Kanin and Nadol, I will resist it myself.”
"yes"
The police sergeant took the order and crouched down behind a tall wooden crate again. His white hand took out his phone and immediately pressed the call button. The sound of gunfire was still echoing. He could not let the police sergeant face them, four against one.
But at the moment he was about to lift his back, Hawk's eyes caught sight of one of them from the right, who was aiming a gun at the body of the police officer on the left.
“Inspector! Watch out!” the dragon shouted as he lunged forward to block Thiartha's body. The bullet struck him hard in the shoulder.
"dragon!"
“Oh, come on, you two are going to die together.”
Thiartha didn't care about anything and rushed towards his fallen younger brother. In shock, he gritted his teeth so hard that his jawline was clearly visible on his face. His anger was beyond limits.
“You guys”
“Huh? Why are you acting like a married couple? Come on, I’ll give you some time to say goodbye.”
"Considered assistance before death"
One of the men raised his gun and aimed it at the two police officers. The remaining three stood there with sneers and laughed with satisfaction but at the moment when it was about to cock the trigger,
Bang bang bang!
Kanin and Nadol rushed into the warehouse, armed. A bullet from the capable Chiang Rai captain grazed his wrist. The gun of the guy from earlier fell to the ground suddenly, followed by a groan.
“Oh, you bastard.”
It's over. "You guys can’t run away." The three of them were trying to find a way out, but it was too late. Reinforcements had surrounded them, leaving them with no way out and no escape. The Black Bull gang was apprehended, along with a huge amount of evidence.
Thiartha, who was supporting the injured person, showed an extremely frightened expression and slowly climbed onto the light person before ordering the two captains to get the car immediately.
“You guys go get the car. I’m taking the dragon to the hospital.”
"Shit! Who shot my brother? Thiar!"
Kanin was angry at another person, but the person in his friend's arms still gave him a slight smile and whispered.
"I'm okay, Kanin."
“Pale, but still okay.”
“You don’t have to say anything. I’ll take you to see a doctor first.”
The car pulled up in a few minutes, and the patient was still in the young police officer's arms. The driver was Captain Nadol, and behind him was Thiar, who was holding Mangkorn. He tried to call for the other person to come to his senses and respond.
It hurts so much, it hurts my whole body and heart.
The moment he saw the dragon rushing towards him to take the bullet, a flash of fear shot through him. It wasn't just physical pain, but a deep, indescribable fear. I'm afraid I'll lose this person...
Why, why would this person risk his life for me? What were you thinking at that time? Are you that worried about me? But I'm more worried about you.
The indigo-colored eyes looked at the person lying on his shoulder, his face growing paler and paler, and the blood from the gunshot wound on his arm was still flowing unceasingly.
“Dragon, you, don’t fall asleep,” a deep voice called out to the other person from time to time, and he lightly patted his cheek.
“Ah, uh, s... Inspector.”
“Don’t say anything now. We’re almost at the hospital.”
"I, I want to eat ice, I want to eat shaved ice."
“Okay, whatever you want to eat, I’ll take you there.”
Just don't be anything, don't be anything, dragon.
