Head 2 Head

Chapter 40 -Special episode Is it good to get married?

(This event happened when JJ was twenty-eight years old.)

"Why am I not as handsome as you guys? I'm the host of the party today!"

"What? Even if you get plastic surgery on your face, you'll never be as handsome as me. Nonsense."

"You've gotten more handsome, and you look even better in the clothes Jinn designed for you."

"You just want to admire the suit your boyfriend designed, that's all, Jay. You can't fool me!" Van glared at his best man, the one he'd forced to be the groom, but now regretted bringing them along.

"Oh, not convincing, huh? Too bad," Jerome, who had his arm around his boyfriend's shoulder, burst into laughter at the groom's exaggerated movements. He looked just like he did in his twenties, not growing up at all.

"Van! If this outfit gets wrinkled, I'll kick you! Just stay still!" The outfit designer's foot twitched instantly. Maybe a quickie? It's been a while.

"You're always so mean to me," the groom stood still, pouting in hurt and resentment.

"Haha, oh dear, I feel sorry for you, Van. Even if today is your wedding, you'll never be as handsome as they are. Just accept it, my friend," Mai patted his friend's shoulder gently in a comforting gesture.

"Yeah, you have to accept it. How can you compete with designers who, in the end, make the models completely overshadowed because they can't match their aura? Haha," Farm shook his head, amused.

Today is Van's wedding, so it's a chance for our friends to reunite after graduation. Actually, it wasn't that difficult to get everyone together because most of us work independently. The only one who was difficult was Mai, who studied a different major during college but became close friends with the fashion design group. This means we have to schedule everything in advance because we need permission from our bosses. Plus, there are several groups to manage, so we need to organise a schedule to cover them all – it's quite hectic.

Van's wedding was held at a five-star hotel. The morning ceremony was over, and now it was time for the evening reception, which would have many guests. This was due to the groom's mother being well-connected and the bride herself being from a wealthy family, meaning they both knew many people.

"Hurry up, before your mom comes looking for you again," Jinn said, checking his friend's outfit one last time.

"Okay, okay, let's go find Praew."

A group of handsome grooms, led by the groom and his groomsmen, went to call the bride and bridesmaids who were in another room before heading to the entrance to greet the guests.

Jinn and Jerome walked at the back of the procession. It was obvious, of course. Firstly, they weren't interested in women. Secondly, they were already a couple. Who would want to bring trouble upon themselves? They weren't stupid enough to join the conversation with the beautiful bridesmaids like their other two friends eagerly suggested.

"It's unbelievable that he's the first to get married, even though he's the last to have a girlfriend," Jinn murmured. Even though he'd heard Jerome tell the story before, being in the actual situation still surprised him.

"Yeah, even though we were dating for years before that. Ugh."

"Huh? Do you want to get married? You never told me," his lover's words made Jinn raise an eyebrow and ask back in a teasing tone.

“Well, no, actually… um… how should I put it? I’m going to be with you for the rest of my life, so this kind of work isn’t that important. But seeing it, being in the real atmosphere, it feels a little different than I expected.” Jerome naturally intertwined his fingers with the fingers of the person standing beside him.

In his previous life, he had attended Van's wedding and many others, but he had never felt this way before. Perhaps it was because back then, the circumstances and emotions didn't allow him to think about these things. But now it's different. His life is so good, so incredibly good, that it gives him time to let his thoughts wander.

"A wedding is just a formality; you can't register the marriage. It's pointless." Jinn hadn't thought about marriage at all. Like Jerome, he and his partner were going to be together for life anyway. Besides, half the world knew about their relationship; there was practically nothing to keep secret. It wasn't an important matter at all. But seeing his lover showing even a little interest in it, Jinn's resolve began to waver.

“Let’s put it off for now, we’ll think about it later. But you’re right, it’s too complicated to organise an event. It’ll take up time that could be used for other things.” Jerome kissed the back of Jinn’s hand, which they were holding, as he often did. Lately, the young man felt himself falling even harder for his boyfriend. He was already deeply in love, but now it had gotten even more so. Ever since they appeared on Shane’s show last year, he realised Jinn cared for him more than he ever thought.

Jerome's feelings fluctuated, but ultimately he was overjoyed, happier than ever, overjoyed that the other person loved him more and more every day.

They both went on their planned trip after opening their fashion house for the first time, and he decided to mention a month (or two) for once. And that was a decision Jerome thought was absolutely the right one.

A wide smile and sparkling eyes, filled with delight, accompanied the teasing remark, "It's been a month already! I'm so glad you finally realise how important you are." In that moment, the young man truly understood what his lover was trying to warn him about: he had indulged the other too much, giving him everything he wanted, letting Jinn do whatever he desired, completely forgetting to indulge himself. He thought that doing well was good enough, even just being able to look at him was wonderful.

But the moment they went out together, that's when Jerome realised it wasn't the same at all. Watching Jinn designing was something he truly desired, but it was from his previous life. Because after this, he would see it for a very long time. But going out, having experiences together, engaging in physical activities—these things have a time limit; they can't be done for a lifetime. Finally, Jerome realised what he should be prioritising.

Every time it was time for a trip, he would remind his lover. While travelling, they rarely used their phones. When they got an idea, they would sketch it out and leave it aside to work on it upon their return. They truly lived their lives together, just the two of them, and he loved it to the point of madness. If he had to sacrifice time travelling with Jinn to organise an event just for show, just to announce to the world that they belonged to each other, Jerome thought it wasn't worth it. So, whatever.

The two tall young men who entered the banquet hall immediately drew attention, but they seemed oblivious, continuing their soft, affectionate conversation. The air around them radiated love so strongly that even someone from outer space could tell what their relationship was.

"I bet after Van posts those wedding photos, we're going to get a lot of questions about this. What should we do? Should we take on this kind of order?" Jerome asked his boyfriend softly. He didn't even need to think to know what would happen after those beautiful and stylish wedding photos were posted on the bridal boutique's Instagram. It would undoubtedly receive overwhelming attention.

"Let's think about it first. It takes a lot of time to design something individually, and the price would be very high. We'll discuss it again later."

"Yeah, I think it's better to make it a matter of term, like a one-year term or two, just specify it. It's a bit of a challenge, isn't it? What do you think?"

"If you already have an idea, why are you asking like you don't, you idiot? I'll kick you!" Jinn glared at the person standing there, laughing annoyingly.

"I was just asking. I'll draft the details later when I have some free time. Oh?"

"Hey! What's this?!"

Jerome's words were interrupted by the shouts and screams of extreme excitement from the partygoers, and something shaped like a bouquet of colourful flowers floated down and landed perfectly in the young man's arms. After that, the entire party seemed to fall silent before bursting into laughter.

"Oh, ladies, it looks like that bouquet doesn't like pretty girls very much. They probably prefer handsome guys. Is that the groom's friend?" the MC on stage joked, his voice laced with laughter.

“Yes, Jay, come here quickly! Come up on stage! Haha!” Van laughed so hard he almost choked on his saliva. Nearly twenty bridesmaids were standing together, but his bride had thrown the bouquet to someone who was talking far away. Well done!

"I wonder if they'll get married?" Jerome teased his lover before walking onto the stage with a graceful demeanour.

"But on second thought, I didn't want you to come up here anymore. You're really stealing the spotlight!" The groom's words made the wedding guests burst into laughter.

"Hello, hello. May I ask if the person who received this bouquet has a partner?" The host performed his duty flawlessly.

"Yes, I do," Jerome smiled sweetly and replied without hesitation.

"I could hear the broken hearts of more than half the girls and guys at the event. Actually, I already knew whether he had a boyfriend, and I think everyone did, given how close they are—haha, just kidding. So, what's the plan? Do you two have any plans to get married?"

"At first, no, but now we might have to start thinking about it. The groom's horoscope is very strong, isn't it?"

Jerome's answer elicited screams and jeers from his friends, but everyone on stage was staring intently at the one person standing there, grinning and giving them the middle finger.

No matter what, all of his gaze and attention would always be on this person.

Jinn pouted in annoyance at the person who walked down from the stage towards him with that irritating smile, before gently placing a beautiful bouquet into his hand.

"I guess I should make my own suit before I can make suits for others. What do you think?"

Jerome's phrase "What do you think?" means the speaker has already decided what to do; he's just asking out of politeness.

Jinn looked at the bouquet in his hand before gazing at the person who was smiling mischievously at him. Even so, those sweet eyes were filled with so much love that it was almost impossible to see anything else. They sparkled, shone brighter, and were more beautiful than any star he had ever seen.

"Can you stop asking questions you already know the answer to? It makes you look stupid."

Why ask a question that you know will never be denied when the answer is clear from the start?

jje.rome / Me and my groom @jjinn.room No big ceremony needed, just the wedding outfits we made for each other, one ring, and our families as witnesses. Even though we've been together for almost ten years, it's okay. We wanted to get married, so we just did it. We're both free anyway.
